HERA expands to North Carolina:
Brian Brader to start chapel hill office

ST. LOUIS, MO – Health, Education + Research Associates, Inc. (HERA) has hired Brian Brader to start the firm’s new North Carolina office in Chapel Hill. The St. Louis-based laboratory planning and design consulting firm also has staff in Philadelphia, PA and Atlanta, GA.

Portrait of Brian BraderBrian Brader, a registered architect, joins HERA as an Associate with the firm and brings more than 20 years’ experience in design strategy, documentation, and construction of programmatically and technically complex projects. “The addition of Brian in North Carolina brings HERA closer to many of our valued clients and the potential for building good relationships with many others. We are very excited to have Brian on the HERA team,” says HERA Principal Janet Baum.

Brader’s career has spanned academic, corporate, healthcare, pharmaceutical, forensic, and research laboratories for universities, government, and private industry. He has participated in all phases of planning and design, from documentation to construction administration, to organizing and coordinating the collaborative efforts of client groups and design professionals to meet project goals.

Brader’s recent work includes serving as project leader/construction administrator for a genetic medicine research building and vivarium at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC, and serving as project leader for renovation of two laboratories at Tulane University’s National Primate Research Center in Covington, LA and a biomedical research building and vivarium at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.

HERA’s expansion into North Carolina continues with work on multiple laboratory research buildings at the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis, and recent selection for UNC’s 200,000-square-foot Energy Production Infrastructure Center (EPIC) at Charlotte, NC. The EPIC project is intended to provide classroom and state-of-the-art laboratory space to accommodate North Carolina’s growth in energy infrastructure research and encourage collaboration with industry partners.
