Science Renovation/Addition

Central High School – The 21,000 square foot addition contains lecture labs, lab support areas, restrooms, custodial areas, mechanical, electrical and circulation areas. New labs support chemistry and advanced biology. A landscaped outdoor classroom features storm water planter, rain garden, native savanna prairie, bioswales and a cistern collecting site and roof drain water to supply water to an aquatic habitat.

The existing science spaces of approximately 14,000 square feet were renovated for additional science instructional areas, prep areas and staff offices. These include physics, biology and environmental science. Other spaces include science department office, project rooms and chemical storage.

West High School – Renovation of approximately 27,500 square feet in the main building and a 1989 addition that houses four biology and two chemistry teaching laboratories plus lab prep areas. Another wing includes a physics lab classroom with adjoining prep/storage, three physical science lecture labs, one floater lab and a physics lecture lab that is also fit out to teach chemistry.

South High School – Renovation of approximately 31,400 square feet of the main building. The third floor science areas include four physics labs, six chemistry labs, two biology labs, and seven multi-purpose labs. Renovations will also accommodate prep areas, a balance and instrument room, project room, science gallery, department storage, and chemical storage.
